What's the Buzz with Teenagers?
A universal social and emotional literacy resource (2019)
This is the latest addition to the series, and Archie has grown up! He's now about 14 years of age. Young teens are faced with a continually changing and complex social world which not only involves face-to-face action, but also online and social media interaction. What's the Buzz with Teenagers? Is a practical and relevant program designed to explicitly teach young people, aged 12 to 15 years, the skills to maintain healthy relationships and good emotional health. Information for EDUCATORS
What's the Buzz? is an evidenced-based program. It is comprised of 3 unique Social and Emotional Literacy programs and each contain 16 lessons;
What's the Buzz? for EARLY LEARNERS (ages 5 to 8 years)
What's the Buzz? for PRIMARY Students (ages 8 to 12 years)
What's the Buzz with TEENAGERS (ages 12 to 15 years)
This lively, practical program targets everyday themes - how to greet, socially reference, make and keep friends, fit in, read one's own emotions, read the feelings of others, deal with competition and cope with worry, frustration, loss and disappointment more constructively. Teaching social and emotional literacy with the same commitment and vigour we have traditionally taught academic skills increases a young person's confidence and competence to get along with others and embrace life.
The program has wide appeal to all kinds of educators in schools. While tailored for small specific groups of children it also has a broader multi-purpose scope with larger mainstream classes.
What's the Buzz? also has applications in private clinical settings; psychologists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, social workers, and allied health professionals. Recognising the most influential people in a child's life, each lesson includes extensive notes offering parents and teachers handy ideas to reinforce the themes presented.

Connects you to Online TRAINING MODULES for a 'What's the Buzz?' Accreditation Certificate. It also provides access to the 96 FULL COLOUR ARCHIE IMAGES from all 3 What's the Buzz? programs. There are 2 Archie images for each of the 48 lessons. As well, there are 5 social skills games for students to play online and resources to easily print and prepare before teaching the program; role-play cards, certificates, activity sheets and more. Information for PARENTS
Together, Mark and Noni Le Messurier run What's the Buzz? children's friendship groups from 69 Goodwood Road, Wayville, on the corner of Parson's street and Goodwood Road every week. The course runs for one semester (16 children sessions - 8 in each term). Sessions start at the beginning of term 1 and term 3.

What's the Buzz? for EARLY LEARNERS (ages 5 to 8 years)
What's the Buzz? for PRIMARY Students (ages 8 to 12 years)
What's the Buzz with TEENAGERS? (ages 12 to 15 years)
We describe it as a friendship club where there are fun things to do, new kids to meet and a chance to learn some vital "getting along skills". Each group consists of 10 children. Children are selected based on age and developmental characteristics, so everyone can learn relational skills and to build friendships in a safe, structured and an optimistic environment.
Sessions are 4pm and 5pm Tuesdays and Thursdays.
There are also 2 PARENT MEETINGS, and these are held at 69 Goodwood Road, Wayville. These are in the evenings, one per term. If you wish additional feedback parents are encouraged to call so we can talk!
