What is a man and how do I get there?
Most of us know about the 'man box'. It represents the old, die-hard attitudes around 'what makes a man'. It shows how these old attitudes box males in, limit men to be a cliché, and prevent boys becoming their best selves. Once boys were taught that to be a 'real bloke you should be tough, be competitive, suck it up, show no pain, give no mercy and show no emotions, except for anger because that looks strong! Boys were told they are strong and girls are weak, that mean are superior and women are inferior. And, so much more that crippled the way men share feelings, form friendships and do relationships.
Only recently have we said to boys in sufficient numbers that we want you to express and share your opinions, ideals, doubts, fears and insecurities. We want 'real young men' to turn into real older men who follow their true interests, even if those interests don't stack up to traditional masculine values. Join me for an empowering evening!
